Kangeiko is Clearwater Aikikai’s flagship event: it brings aikido practitioners from across the province (and even the country!) to Clearwater, allowing us to showcase our small-town hospitality. The event is held against the (usually) snowy backdrop of Wells Grey Provincial Park and provides a level of training that is challenging but achievable for all ages and experience levels. How much you do is completely up to you, and if 20 hours of mat-time seems a bit excessive, there are opportunities to recuperate and enjoy the beauty of the North Thompson valley by touring the frozen waterfalls, going on wintery forest walks, or skating on Dutch Lake.
Creating an integrated training environment across ages and experience levels is a top priority for Kangeiko, making it an ideal “first seminar” experience for anyone who is just starting their aikido journey. Our instructors are key to realizing this goal. They all have different approaches to the Martial Art of Peace, but they share a passion for aikido and an approachability that creates a uniquely collaborative learning opportunity. For everyone.
