Clearwater Aikikai:
Home of the Valkyries
The Valkyries are an intergenerational group of people who share a female warrior spirit. They work to support the retention of women in aikido, encourage new female members of all ages, and provide ongoing development and mentorship to female instructors and yudansha.
In other words, they use aikido as a tool for empowerment.
Clearwater Aikikai is operated by the Clearwater Aikikai Society, a registered BC Society with the following constitutional goals:
To promote and foster the study, practice, and instruction of the martial art of Aikido in Clearwater, British Columbia, and surrounding communities.
To provide training, seminars, demonstrations, and cultural events that support the development of Aikido and community well-being.
To encourage personal growth, discipline, respect, and mutual support among members.
To acquire, maintain, and operate facilities and equipment necessary for Aikido practice and related activities.
To receive, manage, and use donations, grants, and other funding solely to further the purposes of the society.
To operate as a non-profit society, with no part of its income payable to or available for the personal benefit of any member, except as reasonable compensation for services rendered.
